شرح ممزوج مزج فيها خالد الأزهري بين شرح ابن هشام (أوضح المسالك) وشرحه عليه، حيث يقول في مقدمة العمل: "مزجت شرحي بشرحه، حتى صارا كالشيء الواحد، لا يميز بينهما إلا صاحب بصر أو بصيرة".

تعد المقدمة اﻷزهرية واحدة من أشهر المتون في علم النحو التي وضعت في نهاية القرن التاسع، وقد وضعها المؤلف بهدف تهيئة المتعلمين لحفظ المتن، ثم يشرح لهم بعد ذلك ليستوعب العلم بالإحاطة بتفاصيله بعد استيعاب قواعده الأصلية. وقد أخذت من كل أبواب النحو الكبرى بطرف، ومسته مسا خفيفا، ولم تترك إلا أبوابا يسيرة. وقد حظيت هذه المقدمة بشروح وحواش كتيرة لما لها من أهمية بالغة في هذا المجال.

Mūṣil al-ṭullāb ilā qawāʿid al-iʿrāb
It is an educational commentary on Ibn Hišām's al-Iʿrāb ʿan qawāʿid al-aʿrāb. He divides the book into some parts, such as the rules of the nominal and verbal sentences, prepositions, changeable and unchangeable nouns, among some other grammatical topics which could confuse the pupils of this branch of linguistics.
