This is a book on the principles of jurisprudence. The author summarized in this book two large commentaries on al-Ǧwainī's book "al-Waraqāt". These commentaries are "al-Šarḥ al-Kabīr" for the himself and "Šarḥ al-Waraqāt" for Ǧalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥalī. The book defines the science of jurisprudential principles, the types of legal judgment, the directive and forbidding styles, the general and specific/particular proofs, and the abrogator and the abrogated rulings in the Qurʾān and the Sunnah. Moreover, he discusses some of the foundations of the Islamic jurisprudence, such as the consensus, analogy, and the presumed continuity of a ruling (Istiṣḥāb). The last chapter of the book elaborates on the concepts of Judicial discretion (Iǧtihād), and judicial imitation (taqlīd), in which he mentioned the eligibility criteria of the Muǧtahid and the Muftī.
